A simple guide to the eLocker network requirements

This article explains at a high level, the required power, ports and network setup required on your network for the eLocker IoT hardware to communicate with the eLocker Manger Cloud

Network Overview

The system is made up of eLocks which wirelessly connect to the smartbox. The Smartbox connects to the eLocker Manager server which you log into and runs your kiosk (if required)

The Hardware

eLocker hardware is pretty simple, it is made of three parts

eLock's

eLocks are wireless IoT locks which connect to the cloud via Bluetooth. They have onboard card reading and memory and have a battery life (3 x AA batteries) of 3-7 years, depending on the mode they are in. There is one eLock per locker and is the way locker users interface with the system

Smartbox

The Smartbox is an Ethernet, PoE (or wall) powered, wireless IoT gateway which relays information between eLocks and the eLocker Manager Cloud system. Smart boxes are installed in pairs for redundancy and each pair can manage to up to 200 eLocks at a time

Kiosk

The eLocker kiosk is a 'screen on a stick' used for a number of different use cases in your eLocker system. From enabling people, allocating lockers, checking statuses or as a screen to open click and collect lockers

Power Requirements

eLocks

Have no requirement for external power as they are battery powered by three AA batteries in each lock, which are installed prior to your system go-live and are provided in our service

Smartboxes

Can be powered from a wall plug and currently support PoE only (PoE + and PoE++ will be launched soon)

Kiosk

Can be powered from a wall plug

Installation and Connectivity

Item Info
Wireless Range A 10m line of site radius from the Smartbox
Locks per Smartbox 200 locks per Smartbox pair
Install Restrictions Must be installed in pairs

Network Requirements

For the Smartboxes to work effectivley we require the following ports to be available and open on the network the Smartbox is connected to
